Multilogues on the Now. Disability and gender in contemporary feminist curating

Dissertation entitled Multilogues on the Now. Dis/ability and gender in contemporary feminist curating offers a reflection and a theoretical framework of the curatorial methods developed and applied during a long-term exhibition project Multilogues on the Now (2017 - 2022) that took place in Display - association for research and collective practice in Prague. Through a series of exhibitions, discussions, screenings, commissioned artworks, publications, shared meals and workshops, the project’s aim was to comprehensively formulate questions related to bodily autonomy, emancipatory needs for self-determination, social frameworks and nuances of impairment and "disability" and ableist exclusion and discrimination their basis, or the material nature of the non-normative lived experience. The dissertation anchors the project in the context of current debates surrounding curatorial research, intersectional feminist curating informed by critical disability studies. It also emphasizes the importance of auto-theory and embodied perspectives on life with illness and disability in contemporary curatroial practice.

Establishing relationships in case of Pramen home clients in general and specifically through the volunteer project "Open Doors"

The thesis deals with the topic of disability and volunteering. The subject of research is to identify the difficulties in establishing relationships of people a diagnosis of intellectual and combined disabilities who live in an institutional environment for a long time. Regarding to that the "Open Door" volunteer project was launched in Domov Pramen, which aims to help clients of the service with gaining social contacts, I will look for difficulties on two levels. The first is the general level, where I will focus on client's life who live in this residential service. The second level is specific, where I will try to identify opportunities and difficulties within the volunteer project "Open Doors". Powerful push of patients: display physically disabled heroes in TV series game of thrones and its audience through the lens of disability studies

This thesis discusses the ways of how physically handicapped fans of Game of Thrones, a television series, identify with characters like or dislike and answers the questions how physically handicapped fans choose who they favour and who they don't, how they identify with them and how is their interpretation linked to their own experience of being handicapped and how their social reality influences how they perceive the media reality. The research reveals orthodoxies of power of the dominating ideology of being fit, against which "the ill" and "powerless", define themselves, albeit subconsciously; it describes the difficulties, connected with their handicap, which they project into the series, behaviour strategies resulting from this phenomenon and how the world around interferes; and, last but not least, it confirms sociological premises of deepening empathy on the basis of different dimensions of one's own identities and experience. The qualitative research of audience is based on semi- structured interviews and deploys the interpretative approach, while the results are coded using the method of anchored theory.
